I used to be that girl who kicked ass in the gym.
I was a competitive wrester in high school and continued lifting weights through college to stay in shape.
I worked out for 2+ hours a day, lifted HEAVY, and was praised by everyone around me…
I was the lifting queen and had PERFECT form... I mean DUH - I was the competitive wrestler who learned how to lift at 15!
I believed I was invincible.
Nothing was going to get between me and my one true love, the gym.
Then, I experienced a sharp pain in my low back during one of my workouts.
I was 22 years old.
I thought it would just go away...
I’d take a few days off from the gym then try again, but the pain just kept getting worse.
This vicious cycle continued for an entire year...
Not being able to move the way I used to made me feel like an 80 year old woman…
How had I let this happen?!
I finally realized that I wasn’t invincible… That I had to change my ways or else I would cause lasting injury.
I was a mechanical engineer at the time, sitting at my desk from 9-5, constantly uncomfortable and upset...
One day at work, I stumbled upon something that changed my life forever.
I healed myself using this one simple trick...
I discovered an ancient Indian teaching on the 6 checkpoints of the body...
This holy grail of movement techniques blew me wide open...
I came to the conclusion that I had NOT been taught ANYTHING about body awareness through school.
I actually had NO IDEA what proper form or good posture even looked like!
It was humbling to say the least…
I used this knowledge to strengthen myself into powerful posture and completely change the way I moved…
And I HEALED my back pain!
I was back to the gym, focusing on functional movement rather than aesthetics, and happier and more empowered than ever…
That is, until the pain came back… two years later.
But this time, it was a DIFFERENT injury, a DIFFERENT pain, in the SAME SPOT of my back - at the base of my spine on the right side.
I tried using everything I had learned to heal myself again, but it just wasn’t working…
This was very interesting.
How could I have TWO DIFFERENT injuries in the SAME spot in my back?!
Sometimes you have to learn the hard way...
There was a message here…
I realized that the root cause of my pain HAD to be something nonphysical…
This second injury led me to finally take meditation seriously…
And I will forever be grateful that my back pain was what opened me up to spirituality.
I continued deep diving into ancient Indian methodologies, learning about the different energy centers located within the body and how they store emotion.
I discovered that my physical pain, ALL physical pain, was a manifestation of unprocessed emotion…
I learned how to address the root cause of my pain by processing and releasing trapped energy…
And my body finally began to feel free to move with ease again.
I hadn’t felt this happy and alive in my skin in years...
It felt so good to know that this was the LASTING solution to my pain…
And that now I was equipped to handle any future pain that came my way.
